China Officially Ends Decades-Long One-Child Policy

On thursday,29 oct 2015, China  decided to end its controversial one-child policy  Communist Party mouthpiece state run Xinhua News Agency
The nation of currently 1.3 billion people had eased up on the policy two years ago, “allowing couples in which at least one of the pair is an only child to have a second child,” said Aljazeera.

“To promote a balanced growth of population, China will continue to uphold the basic national policy of population control and improve its strategy on population development,” said Xinhua about completely ending the policy.
Because of the country’s aging population, the Communist Party has been facing mounting internal pressure to come to a decision on the last day of their policy-making Central Committee — “the fifth plenum.” It’s more complicated than that though, and that’s likely just the party line as to the reasons.

CNN reported that “the country could become home to the most elderly population on the planet in just 15 years, with more than 400 million people over the age of 60.”
There are currently no reports on how this ruling will effect the millions of undocumented children (illegal second child) still living in China.
