Taraba State Government Names Acting ''Kpanti Zing''.




Following the death of Alh Abbas Ibrahim who died recently in Saudi Arabia stampede while performing the 2015 pilgrimage,Taraba  state government has announced Linus Ibrahim as acting Kpanti Zing pending when the king makers within the chiefdom conclude processes of crowning the new first class chief.

The appointment of the acting Kpanti Zing came as a result of the death of late Kpanti Zing Abbas Ibrahim who died recently in Saudi Arabia stampede while performing 2015 pilgrimage.The late Kpanti Zing Abbas Ibrahim led the Muslim pilgrimage from Taraba state as Amiru Hajj and was on the tool of Kpanti Zing for 19 years before he died.

Before the appointment of the acting Kpanti Zing there has been high tension over who succeeds the late chief which led to the taking over of the palace of the chief by the local
masquerade (Dodo) stopping women and children from coming close to the palace.
The masquerade was at the palace for four days before the appointment of the acting Kpanti Zing Linus Ibrahim.

From the ruling family three persons were contending for the stool, this includes Ibrahim Tumba the former governorship aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Taraba state. Others from the late Abbas family are Imam Ibrahim permanent secretary at the ministry health in the state and Bala Ibrahim.

In a three paragraph press release by the permanent secretary Bureau for local government and chieftaincy affairs Alhaji Bello Yero stated that the state government has put machinery in place for election of the new Kpanti Zing.


“All parties vested with the processes that will lead to the emergence of thenew Kpanti Zing are by this directive adviced to be calm and ensure that the chiefdom remains peaceful”
Yero also stated that security agencies have been fully briefed to ensure that law and order are maintained throughout the period of mourning for the late Kpanti Zing and preparations for the elections of his successor.
