Justice Who Halted Saraki's Trial To Retire In Two Weeks.

A report by Sahara Reporters suggests that the Supreme Court judge who led four other judges that ordered the stoppage of Senate president, Bukola Saraki’s trial will retire in two weeks time.

Justice John Fabiyi will be 70 years old on Wednesday, November 25 which automatically signals his retirement from the judiciary.
Appeal who read the lead judgement of the court proclaiming the election of former president, the late Umaru Yar’adua to have been “free and fair” and in conformity with the electoral rules.


He was elevated to the Supreme Court after giving that judgement, but the late Yar’Adua subsequently admitted that the election that brought him to power was not completely free and fair.
It will be recalled that the apex court suspended the trial o Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) earlier today, November 12.

In their ruling, the panel of Justices said: “It is imperative to state that all the parties, including the Code of Conduct Tribunal, should tarry a while to enable this court to determine the appeal before it.”
Justice Fabiyi said: “In effect, further proceeding at the CCT should be stayed pending the hearing of the appeal. Hearing date will be communicated to all the parties.”
