Sani Bello names Muhammed Dantoro as new Emir of Borgu

The Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has officially handed an appointment letter to the new Emir of Borgu Kingdom, Muhammed Dantoro, Kintoro IV.
Governor Bello charged the new Emir on Wednesday in Minna, to sustain and improve on the legacy of his Father, Late Haliru Dantoro, the Kintoro III.
Governor Bello in his speech, spoke extensively on the virtue of the late Emir whom he noted was a man of justice and like a father to him.
He, therefore, urged the new Emir to sustain his father’s legacy if he could not exceed his legacy.
He, however, expressed confident that the new Emir, who is the first son of the late Emir, would live up to expectation in the task of leading the people of Borgu.
“I have no doubt that the new Emir of Borgu is up to the task. As a Governor, Borgu emirate remain dear to my heart,” he stressed.
Bello stated that, he was not unaware of the dreams of the late Emir for the development of his Emirate and that all the dreams the late Emir had for Borgu would remain dear to his heart as a Governor, promising to make sure it would be realised and actualised for the people of Borgu Emirate Council.
According to him, what he has done, was in conformity with section 3(1) chapter 19 of the law of Niger State which gave him the enabling power to appoint new Emir when a vacancy exist in any of the emirates council in the state.
Consequently, he stated that having consulted with the members of the Niger State Traditional Council, he approved the appointment of the new Emir as the 17th Emir of Borgu, with effect from November 7, 2015.
Immediately after the presentation, the New Emir, all members of Borgu Emirate and some princes of Borgu, left for Borgu, where he would be received by his people.
The presentation of the letter was witnessed by some top government officials.
