Shocking! Minister Discovers N280m Sports Equipments Rotting Away At Abuja National Stadium.

The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, yesterday at the Abuja National Stadium discovered equipment worth more than N280million wasting away at the stadium’s various store rooms unused.
It was gathered that the equipment was imported some 16 months ago and had been kept in its cartons without anybody asking for it to be used for the various sports in the country.
The Special Assistant Media to the Honourable Minister of Sports, Mrs. Nneka Anibeze, disclosed that the cartons and cases in which they were supplied by three different contractors have been intact unassembled, uninstalled and not in use since they were brought into the country for specific reasons!See more 

She noted that the equipment’s warranty expires 2 years after importation and they’ve already spent 16 months in the casing in storage.
The minister stated that the unused equipment will be put to maximum use for the betterment of Nigerian athletes as the country prepares for the Rio 2016 Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“These are equipment our athletes value so much when they go out on training tour and we have them right here at home unused,” the Minister said.
