While the award was being received from Security Watch Africa President Patrick Agbambu, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura made it known that the government and entire good people of the state sees this award that is given to him as an encouragement not to relent in what they had commenced on security issues.

He further said that the state would go all out in making sure that they extend a total support to security, “we are very delighted with the initiative of Mr. President towards check mating insurgency and also ensuring that Nigeria is seen as a peaceful place where business and social activities can grow and improve freely”, saying that Nasarawa state would support Mr. President and replicate his actions in the state.Gov. Umaru Tanko Almakura was given the best Governor of the Year on Security Matters, in recondition of the outstanding performance and improvement on security

An award was also given to the Nasarawa State Police Command for being the most proactive police command in the country for their efforts which has also been noticed.
