Ortom Swears In Caretaker Chairmen,Charges Them To Boost IGR.
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, while swearing in new caretaker chairmen for the 23 councils in the state charged them to fashion out creative ideas that will boost internally generated revenue efforts.
The event took place at the New Banquet hall of the Benue Peoples House.
“Those that have been given leadership positions at all levels have to be frugal with the resources at their disposal even as attention must be given to creative ideas that would beef up internally generated revenue”, he stated
“Ours is a call to service and no diversion of public funds for private use will be tolerated.”
The Governor urged the chairmen to develop consciousness that his administration would conduct council elections in the second quarter of the year and that their performance would have positive or negative consequences on the polls.
He said the current caretaker chairmen would be the last to be appointed by his administration as he would ensure that elections are conducted.
Governor Ortom charged them to inaugurate the other committee members with whom they will be working together in running the affairs of their respective local governments.
“Do not act as sole administrators but at all times consult and work together with members to avoid suspicion, distrust and acrimony that would slow down the pace of activities in your local governments” he maintained.
Responding on behalf of other chairmen, the Chairman of Guma local government area, Mr. Sam Aga expressed appreciation to the Governor for finding them worthy to serve and that they would use the opportunity to serve the people maximally.
