SAD! See What Residents Discovered In A River In Delta State.

It was a black Thursday yesterday, January 14, in Ekpan and Effurun communities  in Delta state, when bodies of two young lovers who drowned in Ekpan River were recovered.

The Nation reports divers were told by the communities’ leadership to remove the decomposing bodies of the couple, identified simply Kess and Onoriode, from the river at 1 pm. They were buried beside each other at the spot from where they jumped into the river.

Pastor Leader Nimogha, a youth leader who is also Kess’ uncle, told the Nation that the deaths were unfortunate. He said: “It is very unfortunate that the two promising lovers ended this way. There is no doubt that the tragedy is as a result of youthful exuberance. They chose to express their love in a dangerous manner because they couldn’t swim.”
The lovers were said to have gone to the river to have a quiet time. Kess was said to have entered the river first and persuaded Onoriode to join him. But they were said to have suddenly disappeared shortly after entering the river.
There are however another conflicting reports that Kess was trying to teach his girlfriend how to swim when the tragedy happened.
About 9 months ago, Kunle Adewale, a son of the Olu of Epe, Oba Shefiu Adewale , and five others drowned in a river after their boat capsized. It was gathered that Kunle, was a Director in the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and is the first son of the Olu of Epe, who ascended the throne two years ago.
