Gov Samuel Ortom Set To Proceed On 1 Week Leave,As Benue Declares Thursday ,Feb 4th Public Holiday.
Benue State Governor ,Chief Samuel Ortom has announced that he will be taking a one-week leave which he will spend within the country ,this was contained in a press release signed by Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Hon Comm of Information ,Mr James Ibechi,after the Exco meeting held at Govt House Makurdi,according to the Gov,while he is away, his Deputy would act in his capacity. The Benue State Executive Council has declared Thursday, February 4, 2016 as public holiday, to enable civil servants attend the funeral of the late Tor Tiv 1V, Orchivirigh Dr. Alfred Torkula, in Gboko.The declaration was among the resolutions taken at the first meeting of the council in 2016, presided over by Governor Samuel Ortom.Deliberations were also made on “A bill to make provisions for the amendment of the Benue State Council of Chiefs and Traditional Councils’ Law 2015 and for purposes connected therewith.”Resolutions on the bill will be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for further necessary action.Two committees were also set up to deliberate on issues related to the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) and the celebration of the state for attaining 40 years.The BIRS committee will be chaired by the Secretary to State Government, Mr. Targema Takema, with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Ruth Ijir, as secretary.That of celebrating Benue at 40 will be chaired by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu, with the Head of Service, Mr. Adaikwu Inwata, as secretary.The celebration of the anniversary earlier slated for Wednesday, February 3, 2016, was shifted forward on account of the death and funeral of the late Tor Tiv.
