Suswam’s Trial: Witness Denies Knowledge Of 47m Units Of Shares Sold In 2006.

A witness brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the on-going trial of former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, Bridgid Shietu, has told Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High court sitting in Abuja that she was not aware of the sale of about 47 million units of shares in three tranches in 2006 by the past administration of Senator George Akume.

The witness, who was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPCL), during cross examination by the defence counsel, Mr. Joseph Daudu, SAN, denied knowledge of the sales of about 33,440,857 units of shares of the Benue cement by the brokers AIL.
She also denied knowledge of the sales of another units of about 2,764,800 of Julius Berger shares in 2006 and also another 12,358,650 units of Afri Bank Nig Plc shares sold in the same month, the same year by Senator George Akume.

Mrs. Shiedu told the court that she was the Assistant General Manager of the company in 2006 when the shares were allegedly sold by Akume but added that she was not aware of any record that could prove that the shares were sold.

The matter has been adjourned to March 2nd 2016 for the continuation of trial.
