Benue Governor Warns Cabinet Members Against Funds Diversion

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has advised his cabinet members to engage in massive farming and agricultural activities, instead of diverting public funds for person use.

Governor Ortom gave the advice on Thursday while swearing-in three new special advisers in Benue State, Nigeria’s central region.

The swearing-in is sequel to the sack of the Governor’s Adviser on Rural Development and Cooperative for alleged embezzlement of 19.5 million Naira, which was part of recovered funds from SME loans in the state.

He warned that anyone found wanting would be prosecuted like his former political associate.

Responding on behalf of the new appointees, the Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Revenue Generation, Benjamin Anchaver, tasked the political associates and family members to exercise restraints.

He also placed demands on public officials to avoid acts of financial indecency.
