#BIRS Chairman Raises Alarm Over ''Fake Tax Agents.

Mrs Orubibi [BIRS Chairman].

The Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) has warned the public against agents parading themselves as their staff to defraud unsuspecting taxpayers.
To curb the development, the agency has provided contact channels for enquiries, complaints and suggestions, while promising to standard taxes, levies and rates as well as the names of their respective collection agents. Here is their press release.

Only last week  on Monday morning at about 10:47 hrs near D Div police station  some motorcyclists (okada) took on two contract staff of BIRS Joshua Philip and Terlumum Adom as they tried to enforce the TAX LAW on okada riders.BIRS has since denied and disowned these staff.

ATTENTION!

THE MANAGEMENT OF BIRS HAS NOTICED WITH DISMAY, THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN PARADING THEMSELVES IN THE NAME OF REVENUE AGENTS AND DEFRAUDING THE PUBLIC (TAXPAYERS); WHILE SOME OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN ENGAGED AS REVENUE COLLECTION AGENTS HAVE BEEN GIVING OUTRAGEOUS ASSESSMENTS TO TAXPAYERS.
