President Buhari Appoints Mr Kolawole Banwo As CSO Rep On NEITI Board.


Mr. Kolawole Banwo, the CSO representative on NEITI board President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Kolawole Banwo as the Civil Society Organisations representative on the National Stakeholders Working Group of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).Buhari had recently established the 14-member NEITI board with Waziri Onibiyo Adio, a communication consultant as the new executive secretary.
The nomination of Banwo was made in line with provisions of the NEITI act 2007 and his appointment that took effect from February 19 runs for four years.
“As the main overseer of CISLAC’s extractive work, Mr. Banwo, who has led the organization’s campaign and advocacy for strengthening the implementation of the EITI process at sub-national and national levels in Nigeria and across the West African sub-region, has the requisite knowledge and network of support and collaboration with civil society to deliver on his assignment,”Adesina Oke, legal director of the organisation, said.
He expressed appreciation to Buhari and gave the assurance that Banwo will give his best. Oke also vowed that the board will give him the needed support to deliver on his national assignment.
Banwo earlier served as senior programme officer at Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre.
Nigerians criticised Buhari for his appointments believing that the president is favouring the people from the North.
