Those Who Publish Falsehood Against Me & My Adminstration Should RepentAnd Seek Forgiveness From God-Gov Ortom.
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has admonished members of the opposition in the state who publish falsehood against him and his administration to repent and seek forgiveness from God.
Governor Ortom gave the admonition today during a service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, House of Joy, Otukpo.
He enjoined those who have vowed never to say any good thing about his administration to read Proverbs 19:5 which says, "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will not go free", stressing that what such individuals need is to turn a new leaf and avoid the wrath of God.
The Governor said his administration will remain focused and not be distracted by the minority voices of deliberate discontent emanating from the opposition.
He listed the efforts being made to develop the state which included 12 road projects, construction/rehabilitation of 700 schools, rural electrification and construction of primary health centres in over 30 communities of the state.
Governor Ortom said contrary to allegations that the state has borrowed more in recent weeks, no fresh loans have been taken as the N10 billion and the N5.5 billion loans which the state government received a few weeks ago are the same loans which the Benue State House of Assembly approved last year but could not be accessed until now, explaining that the funds have been earmarked for numerous projects in infrastructure, education and health.
"They tell terrible lies that we have taken huge loans and I challenge them to name the loans they say we have received outside the ones we have repeatedly informed the people of the state about. Is it possible for the State Executive Council to borrow money without the approval of the State House of Assembly?" he queried.
Governor Ortom thanked the Redeemed Christian Church of God for standing by him with fervent prayers before, during and after the 2015 elections, assuring the people of the state that at the end of the 4-year tenure of his administration, Benue people will rejoice that they made the right choice by electing him.
Pastor Aderemi Folasayo who ministered during the church service, prayed for the success of the Ortom administration and was later joined by other church officials to dress the Governor in the Benue United colours of white, green, black, red and blue.
The Church service was also attended by the Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Abba Yaro, the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Stephen Lawani and members of the state Executive Council.
