Ortom’s absence: Benue workers abandon offices.




According to New telegraph online,Some civil servants and political appointees of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, including commissioners and special advisers Wednesday continued to exhibit their truant attitude to work as they cashed on the governor’s absence to abscond from office to attend to personal engagements.

The truant attitude of the top government functionaries thwarted official activities as most of them linked their actions to inability of the government boost the morale of workers through prompt payment of salaries.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Terser Akase had told journalists that Ortom is one of the state governors on President Mohammadu Buhari’s delegation on an official trip to the Peoples Republic of China, where he is taking part in the 119th Canton Fair.

Akase stated that the governor is also bid to make a presentation at the opening of the First North Central Nigeria – China Business and Investment Forum scheduled to take place in Guangzhou, and the trip is expected to offer members of the Nigerian and Chinese business communities the opportunity to rub minds on current global economic trends.

The governor’s spokesman stated further that Ortom and his counterparts from Kogi, Plateau and Niger states are expected to lead discussions on the roadmap and the gains of doing business in North Central Nigeria.

But commissioners and other aides of the governor have used the absence of the governor to abscond official duties to sort out their personal problems.
