This doctor sent a naked video of himself to a female patient.
Dr Simon Shields, 47, sent the clip of himself lying 'unclothed' in bed, alongside the message: 'Will you be having an early night? I took a vid to help you..x'.
The Oxford-educated consultant neurologist had been treating the woman - referred to as Patient A - since 2005, and met her for consultations at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital on 28 separate occasions.
But in February 2013, the pair met up for sex after Dr Shields found the woman's email address - which he claims was still in his inbox from correspondence some five years earlier - and they began talking.
The messages soon became flirtatious and 'within days', Patient A, a writer in her late 30s, suggested they meet up away from the hospital.
They first had sex on that occasion and had at least a further three meetings until Dr Shields left the UK to go on holiday with his family in America.
However, the sexualised emails continued to go back and forth until late April 2013.
In August of that year, the 'improper relationship' first came to light when Dr Shields was investigated on unrelated matters and his hospital email account was later examined.
Later that same day, Dr Shields, of Norwich, sent the woman the naked video of himself.
Appearing at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in Manchester, he admitted that the emails were of a sexual nature and were sexually motivated. He now faces being struck off the medical register.
Dr Shields told the woman to visit another doctor when their relationship became sexual, but she still attended the hospital for an appointment in May 2013, the tribunal heard. Further emails between the two were sent from a personal email account.
The tribunal heard that for around eight-and-a-half years, she and Dr Shields saw each other on a solely professional basis, but it changed in February 2013 with daily email correspondence and a 'difficult time' in Dr Shields' life.
