How Nigerian Customs Service Auctions cars.

• Seized vehicles are condemned by a competent court of law after the statutory period of 30 days, and thereafter forfeited to government.
• In accordance with the provisions of the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA), the office of the Comptroller-General of Customs, on behalf of the Board of the Nigeria Customs Service, auctions the vehicles to interested members of the public who apply.
• The auctioning of overtime cargoes is a function of a broad-based committee comprising 18 agencies including representatives from Customs, Police, ICPC, EFCC, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance, MAN, etc.
• The Federal Government gazette containing a list of the overtime cargo is a public document but additionally, the Service ensures that it is displayed in the various Customs Commands across Nigeria.
• Usually, interested buyers apply to the committee.
