50 Cent and Dr Dre reportedly sued over P.I.M.P. beat
The beat for 50 Cent’s P.I.M.P. was one of the most recognisable from his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’, and now 50 and Dr Dre are being sued over it.
Brandon Parrot says he sent 10 tracks to Dr Dre in 2001, hoping one of his artists would use them. Two years later, he got a call from a producer at Aftermath Entertainment – Dr Dre’s label – TMZ report, letting him know his track BAMBA had been used on P.I.M.P. but claiming the label had no idea it would make the final cut.

Parrot signed a settlement deal based on the information relayed in that phone call, but claims now after hearing interviews that Dre and 50 had always planned to use his beat.
He’s suing for a cut of the P.I.M.P. profits, which could be quite a lot given the song went gold and peaked at number three on the Billboard 100 after its 2003 release.
