CEO of the South African state broadcaster quits shortly after negative news about president is banned.
South African Broadcast Corporation (SABC) board chair, Jimi Matthews, has cited 'prevailing corrosive atmosphere' in his resignation on Monday.
In a statement released on Twitter, Matthews said 'what is happening at the SABC is wrong, and can no longer be a part of it.'
His resignation comes at a time when SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng has been severely criticised for banning the public broadcaster from showing violent protests and discouraging journalists from negative reporting.
