Obiano launches Anambra rice standardisation policy brand.

Governor Willie Obi­ano of Anambra state has ordered that for any rice to qualify to bear the Anambra rice seal under the standardization policy, it must be properly par boiled, stone free, long grained, sorted, pol­ished and bagged according to international standards.


This directive was given during the sensitization pro­gram for rice farmers hosted by the state Ministry of Agri­culture.

Further, Obiano charged the rice farmers in the state to ensure Anambra becomes one of the top three rice produc­ing states in Nigeria as he is committed to doing more for the farmers in the 2016 farm­ing season.

Obiano was represent­ed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu. Sequel to this, the Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture has created a standardization procedure for Anambra rice and introduced the Anambra State Rice Brand Seal to the farmers.

The farmers thanked the Governor for buying their rice and distributing it in the state during the Xmas festiv­ities, noting that this gesture has increased their liquidity and will encourage them to even farm more land mass in the 2016 farming season.
