Days after men of the operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) acting on a tip off rescued nine-year-old Taiwo Korede who was chained for weeks by his father for stealing his stepmotherā€™s soup, policemen on Thursday rescued a 10-year-old girl chained as punishment for stealing in Ogun state.

The Punch newspaper reports that policemen rescued Promise Udeh at the Adigbe area of Abeokuta the Ogun State Capital after neigbours close to the house where she was chained alerted the police.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said she was allegedly chained by her aunt, Chiamaka Okafor, for allegedly stealing N4,000.

Chiamaka is currently on the run but her husband, Sunday Okafor, has been arrested and is in police custody.
