Benue state Speaker ,Terkimbir Ikyange claims innocence in N750million vehicle contract scam.

Following calls for his resignation Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon Terkimbi Ikyange has said he is innocent.

Sixteen lawmakers had cast a vote-of-no-confidence on the Speaker citing his silence amidst allegations of N750 million vehicle contract fraud for which 21 assembly members were detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in Abuja few weeks ago.

The Speaker however, during an interview on Channels Television yesterday, maintained his innocence saying he had no hand in the contract whatsoever.

“For one year, what have been their claims. Now, the issues they are talking about is that members have been detained in the EFCC.

“I wasn’t the cause of that, I was not given the contract, in fact I was not party to the contract. I have nothing to do with the contract. So I was not there when they were negotiating.” the Speaker said.

Recall that the contract for the supply of vehicles to assembly members which was worth N750 million was handled by Mia 3 Nigeria Limited, a company fronted by the assembly Deputy Speaker, Hon James Ejembi Okefe.
