Afghanistan is a country where it is deeply frowned upon for women to flash the flesh but men, it appears, can happily get their kit off without anyone batting an eyelid.


Bodybuilding is one of the country's most popular sports and was even permitted during the puritanical Taliban regime between 1996 and 2001. 

Kabul played host to the final round for the Mr Afghanistan 2016 competition recently and these images show some of the beefcakes on display.

Mohammad Haroon Azemi won the coveted title, beating off competition from 434 other contestants from the country's 24 .
