Group alleges N11bn fraud in Kogi, petitions Buhari, EFCC

A civil society organisation, Egalitarian Mission Africa, has petitioned anti-graft agencies, accusing the government of Kogi State of money laundering and misappropriation of over N11 billion state funds.

The petition, by Olatunde Ojeomo on behalf of the group, was submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission, ICPC, yesterday.

The convener of the group, Kayode Ajulo, said the group had sent copies of the document to President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Abba Kyari.

Ajulo, an Abuja-based lawyer, said: “The move became necessary given that the Buhari-led administration has said it had zero-tolerance for corruption and we have seen that what is going on in Kogi is sheer wanton looting and embezzlement.

“I am not from Kogi, but we have interest in issues of good governance anywhere in the country.

“What is important is to ensure that the President knows what is going on and take action.”
