Illegal Oil Well Uncovered by Security Operatives at a Lagos Church...See Shocking Details





Lagos State seems to be the new hub of illegal oil wells shortchanging the government on the proceeds of oil resources.

Another illegal oil well in Lagos has been discovered by security operatives within a space of one week after the exposure of 12 houses in Abeokuta and Ibadan Streets in Ilasamaja area of the state over discovery of shallow oil wells built by landlords to steal diesel from pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The recent discovery was made by the combined efforts of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and members of the Nigerian Army shocking at the premises of Winners Satellite Church, Iyana-Odo, Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, LCDA.

The well from which fuel was fetched was filled with petrol according to a report on the Vanguard.

The resident pastor, Oladela Paul who narrated to NSCDC Lagos Commandant, Tajudeen Balogun, who led the operation, said that the church had sent a formal complain to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC when they noticed the well was filled with PMS.

He lamented that months after writing the NNPC for solution, the Church was yet to get any response from the Corporation, adding “well has become a source of harassment to the church and our members.


"Aside the harassment, we are afraid of the impending hazard which we cannot determine.”

Confirming the discovery, Balogun in a statement made available to a correspondent by NSCDC Public Relation Officer, PRO, Kehinde Bada, said “the visit is to evaluate the extent of the spillage and take necessary actions.”
