PDP berates Ortom for ‘erasing’ Suswam’s legacies after plaque at BSUTH was removed and destroyed.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has chided Governor Samuel Ortom for allegedly “erasing” the face and identity of his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam, from projects he (Suswam) executed during his tenure in office as governor.
The party, in a statement by its state publicity secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, at the weekend, stated that the memorial plaque installed at the Benue State Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) clearly bearing the inscripted details of the former governor and ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, at the initial commissioning, had been removed and destroyed.
According to the PDP, another plaque was installed bearing only the inscription of the ex-president who commissioned the facility in March, 2012.
Similarly, the party alleged that the details of dual carriage grade A asphalt road, initiated by Senator George Akume, during his time as governor, but built to completion by Suswam, and thereafter named ‘George Akume Road’ in a show of goodwill, had been tampered with.
“This development is not only indecent and a show of unbridled lust for vengeance by Ortom against his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam, but it is also a reflection of a dangerous mindset at the topmost level of leadership in the state,” it said.
Ortom’s spokesman, Tahav Agerzua, was yet to react to the allegation raised by PDP at the time of this report.
