Women Bare Bosoms Across the United States to promote Women 's Rights. #GoTopless Day

Women barred their Bosoms on Sunday,27 aug 2016 across the United States for #GoTopless Day, an effort to promote a woman’s right to show her breasts in public just as men do.

According to the AP, #GoTopless Day is observed on the Sunday closest to Women’s Equality Day. Women gathered in Los Angeles, New York City, New Hampshire’s Hampton Beach, and a number of other cities to march—often topless—and draw attention to the strictures condemning women’s breasts as obscene.

“This push for women to go topless in the 21st century is as strong as women wanting to vote in the 20th century,” Nadine Gray, president of #GoTopless, told AP. “It may be sensual, but it’s not illegal to be sensual.”

Though marchers garnered attention from onlookers, the organization’s paramount goal is to eliminate the shock provoked by women’s bare breasts. Women’s toplessness is in fact criminalized in certain states.

“[GoTopless Day is ,in hopes to show people that it can be normal, that it’s really not a big deal and it’s not about getting attention or protesting,” Hampton Beach organizer Kia Sinclair said.
