PDP Top Leaders Decamp To APC In Edo

Several top echelons of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were on Wednesday received by the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief John Odegie-Oyegun, as they jumped ship to the ruling party with their supporters in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.

Those that decamped includes: Mr. Ebima Ogbeide, Tony Anileh, Madam Goldenpenny, Pius Izemwingie, Ikponmwonsa Usiobafoh, Mrs. Vero Aguebor, Wilfred Enabulele, secretary ward 5.

This development is a big blow to the PDP as the Edo November elections is barely three months away

Chief Oyegun welcomed the defectors with open hands as he reaffirmed that APC is ready to accommodate more of the PDP leaders into the party

“Massive development has already started in the state, and we welcome people who have the interest of the state and are progressive minded to join to continue with this development.

“Looking at the calibre of leaders defecting, I laugh when I see PDP boast of winning. Honestly, they are dead and buried in Edo,” he said.

The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole in his remark said, “the defection of Dennis Evbuomwan, the Oredo PDP leader, marked the end of the party in the state.

“For me, the coming of Evbuomwan, and other leaders of the PDP in Oredo, along with their unit leaders, means they are here with a complete story. The unit heads are the real people in the field,” he added.
