Benin Crown Prince Begins Procession To Be Crowned 39th Oba of Benin

The crown Prince of Benin Kingdom, Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, on Saturday began his coronation journey by trekking a distance of about 10 km from his palace at Uselu to Eko-Ohae.

The crown prince, who would be crowned the 39th Oba of Benin, left Uselu at about 3:45 p.m. accompanied by a large crowd with commercial activities paralyzed along his itinerary routes.

As part of the coronation procession, he also climbed a 500-year-old palm tree as part of his coronation process.

He moved to the `Iyan-akpan’ now known as the popular five-junction, where Chiefs from Uselu community handed him to Chiefs from Benin.

Various cultural troupes including the Iten Edo Theatre Group and Benin Royal Dynasty Trust Dance entertained as they moved with the crowd to entertainment.
