INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL 2016 | Eco Cares Welfare Foundation Empowers Matrons and House mistresses With Skills To Improve Their Roles In Training The Girl Child To Learn And Acquire Skills. PHOTOS.




A non-governmental organisation, Ene Cynthia Ogheh (ECO) Cares Welfare Foundation, yesterday joined the rest of the world to celebrate the international Day of the Girl Child.

The international day of the girl-child celebrated every October 11 is a day set aside by the United Nations to celebrate girl-child development since 2012,
Speaking with journalists at an event to mark the day in Abuja yesterday, spokesperson of the group, Mrs Ene Idusuyi, assured that the foundation was out to support the girl-child.

She noted that the day is an opportunity for individuals, NGOs and civil societies to raise awareness on the different types of discriminations and abuse that many girls around the world go through .Mrs Idusuyi highlighted some Issues the girl child faces which ranges from · Forced marriages· Early motherhood· Sexual abuse· Gender discrimination
· Lack of access to basic social services – reproductive health services, education and prompt justice.Noting that teenage girls need to be given necessary tools and opportunities to make informed decisions about their lives and future.

 Ecocare Welfare Foundation in commemorating this year’s international day of the girl child, empowered  house mistresses and matrons with skills on how to improve their roles in training up a girl child to learn and acquire such skills.
“We are here to recognize the unique struggles girls face globally, recognize the potentials girls have to change the world for the better and also promote girls right and highlight gender inequality that remains between girls and boys says Mrs Ene Idusuyi.

They also paid special tribute to Chibok girls who were adopted in 2014.
