Breaking : CCB, Reps indicted in MASSIVE scandal in EFCC’s budget padding investigation
Sahara Reporters is reporting that some officials of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) have been reportedly undermining the investigations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into the budget padding scandal rocking the House of Representatives.
Yakubu Dogara has been accused of padding the budget
It reports further that the CCB officials have been reportedly alerting members of the lower house of legislature that the EFCC is looking into their asset declaration forms.
The EFCC had sent a request to the CCB for asset declarations of more than 30 members of the House of Representatives that are involved in the padding scandal as critical part of its investigation but officials of the Bureau have been tipping off the lawmakers.
In some cases, the officials reportedly helped the lawmakers to alter the information on their assets declaration forms.
“Once some serving or retired politicians and other public officers are exposed or under pressure, the leadership of this bureau assists them to alter their asset declaration forms. This enables the said officials [to] wriggle out of trouble,” a source told Sahara Reporters.
The report also alleged that the Speaker of the House of Reps Yakugu Dogara is not happy with the probe and is allegedly making moves to have it thwarted.
It however did not say if he was part of the lawmakers that the EFCC was looking into his assets declaration.
Meanwhile, Reno Omokri, a former special assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on new media, hasquestioned the anti-corruption war of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
The former special assistant slammed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the arrest of Reuben Abati, his former principal’s spokesman.
