Edo tribunal updates.
The Edo State Election Petitions Tribunal in Benin hasĀ granted the All Progressives Congress an order restraining the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate in theĀ September 28 governorship poll, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, from scanning the ballot papers used for the exercise.
It also restrained the PDP from using any equipment to examine, scan, or howsoever interact with the ballot papers unless the integrity of such equipment had been demonstrated and cleared by the tribunal.
The APC and its candidate in the election, Godwin Obaseki (now Governor) had filed a suit seeking to halt the plan by the opposition party to scan the materials.
After hearing the four-paragraph motion and the sworn affidavit of the ruling on Wednesday, the panel led by Justice A. Badamasi, granted the application.
