Man and woman are caned 100 times each for falling in love.
Kneeling on the ground with her arms raised resigned to her fate, an Indonesian woman was caned 100 times after being accused of having sex with another man even though they are not married. The woman along with the other man faced the brutal punishment for adultery which is against Sharia law.
First the woman, flanked by two female police officers was escorted to the stage outside a mosque in Banda Aceh, Indonesia.
The woman was forced to kneel on the ground with her hands in the air as she received her punishmentOnce on the stage in front of a crowd of people she was forced to kneel on the ground, as she raised her hands up in the air.
Then a masked man holding the cane started her punishment by cracking it across her back.Once the punishment was completed, she was allowed to leave the stage and she was replaced by a man who also faced the same fate. However, he was made to stand as he was whipped across his back grimacing in pain.
Aceh is the only province in the world's most populous Muslim-majority country that is allowed to implement Islamic Sharia law.

Under the law, men and women, who are not spouses, are not allowed to get too close due to the 'khalwat' offence - and punishment is by public caning.
Gay sex, gambling and drinking alcohol are all punishable by caning in Aceh which began implementing Sharia law after being granted special autonomy in 2001.
A flurry of new Islamic laws have been introduced in Aceh in recent years, drawing howls of protest from rights groups.
Earlier this year, Banda Aceh banned women from entertainment venues after 11pm unless they are accompanied by a husband or male family member.
Aceh district has also banned unmarried men and women from riding together on motorbikes.
Afterwards, a man is brought to the stage to receive the same punishment next the mosque
Instead of kneeling, the man is forced to stand as he is publicly flogged in Banda Aceh, Indonesia
The public flogging came as 13 men in the Indonesian capital Jakarta where detained by police for their alleged involvement in a 'sex party'.
A branch of the hardline group the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) alerted police to what they believed was a 'sex party' being held in an apartment in South Jakarta late on Saturday night.
The apartment was raided and condoms and phones were seized, with the mobiles allegedly showing a group by the name of 'Big X Family' had been established via the instant messaging service Whatsapp to invite people to the party.
Thirteen men were detained for questioning, before being released on Sunday night.
It is not illegal for such events to be held and Andreas Harsono from Human Rights Watch (HRW) said the raid was yet 'another setback for Indonesia's fledgling democracy.'
