Opposition ''ELEMENTS'' are promoting falsehood-Benue Speaker
The Speaker, Benue Assembly, Hon Terkimbi Ikyange, has advised the people of the state to avoid the antics of opposition elements in the state.Ikyange in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Bem Abunde, alleged that the opposition was thriving on falsehood in the state.
Abunde said that Ikyange made the appeal at Akerior, Utange Ward in Ushongo Local Government Area when he addressed All Progressives Congress (APC) members.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Solomon Jato, Ikyange said that the opposition elements were bent on tarnishing the image of leaders through falsehood with the sole aim of scoring cheap political goals. He further urged them not to allow themselves to be brainwashed by people who were only out to cause disaffection and rancour in the society. Ikyange refuted the news making the rounds that he was working assiduously against the restoration of the suppressed Mbagwa State Constituency in Ushongo Council.
‘’I am fully in support of the restoration of the suppressed constituency in my area and I have committed time, finance and other resources to this course. I am aware of the benefits that my people will stand to get if we have two constituencies, as such I cannot stand against such a wonderful opportunity,’’ he said.He stated that most of the people accusing him of trying to frustrate the restoration of the suppressed constituency were the same people that stood against it during the 2015 elections.
Earlier, political leaders in the area including Elder John Mousha and Mr Godwin Alumunku, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to follow the laid down procedures to restore the suppressed constituency.
