Suswam lauds Gov Ortom's continuation of work on Zaki- Biam -Afia-Gbeji road,As staunch APC member decamps to PDP in Benue State.
Immediate past governor of Benue State, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Torwua Suswam PhD CON, has commended his successor, Gov. Samuel Ortom, for continuing with work on the Zaki-Biam-Afia-Gbeji road which he (Suswam) initiated8 during the time of his administration.
The road was constructed by the Suswam administration up to 70% by the time of the expiration of its tenure, and the former governor observed with satisfaction that the Ortom administration has taken up completion of the road which is ongoing.
Suswam spoke at the burial of Aya Naomi Nguyum Mue, mother of State Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Clement Tela Mue and also at the decamping ceremony of a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ukum LGA, Ben Kire and hundreds of his supporters into the PDP yesterday.
According to him, it is in the best interest of the state that each administration should work to consolidate on the gains made by its predecessor, instead of working to undermine same through negative propaganda, maintaining that every leader in the state, in or out of power has something to offer for the good and development of the state.
The immediate past governor reiterated that he did not steal N107 billion as being alleged by Gov. Ortom, but that he used all resources which accrued to his administration to execute projects across the state which are positively impacting the lives of people of the state to this day.
He pointed to roads projects across the state, health care delivery facilities, rural electrification, provision of potable water, educational development, and several other achievements of his administration, stressing that no administration accumulates money and leaves for another to spend, but uses same to execute it's mandate.
Suswam enjoined all Benue leaders to think more of working in concert with others to seek empowerment opportunities for Benue indegenes, particularly at the national level as he lamented that the state was fast losing out on strategic placement there.
Both occasions were attended by notable politicians and community leaders alongside Suswam, including State Chairman of the PDP in Benue, Sir John Ngbede; his Deputy, Dr. Tsetim Ayargwer; State Secretary of the Party, Moses Audu; members of the state executive committee of the Party and its wards and local government executives in the Sankera area.
Former Benue Governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2015 election, Prince Terhemen Tarzoor and Dr. Gabriel Tivlumun Nyitse who also ran in the same race were also in attendance, as well as state Assembly members, Rt. Hon. Paul Biam and Hon. Kester Kyenge, for Ukum and Logo state constituencies respectively.
Also in attendance were former Majority Leader of the State Assembly and serving member of the PDP National Elders Committee, Sylvester Atachin; former Chairman of the Benue State Local Government Service Commission, Richard Gbande; former Ukum council Chairman and Benue ALGON Boss, David Sev'av; former Permanent Secretary in the Benue Civil Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Dinah Ahure, and several others.
