UN Day of Disabled Persons:Office of SSA to the President on Disability presents "A Gala & Award Night for Disabled Persons In Nigeria.


We have been commemorating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December since 1981.
Year 1981 was declared by the United Nations Organization as the International Year of Persons with Disabilities. The major outcome of the year was the adoption of the World Programme of Actions concerning Disabled Persons in 1982. The period from1983 to 1992 was declared by United Nations a UN Decade of Disabled Persons and thus the time framework was set during which government were supposed to implement activities recommended by the World Programme of Actions concerning Disabled Persons.

The main point of the World Programme of Actions concerning Disabled persons is to "create equal opportunities" which is defined as the right of persons with disabilities to achieve full participation in all aspects of society life.


It is for this reasons that the office of Senior Special Assistant to the President on Disability Matters, in collaboration with OhidOo Global Concept International presents a Gala and Award night organized for persons with disabilities in Nigeria.

The Occasion is put together to celebrate persons who have contributed to supporting disabled persons and promoting their issues

3rd December has been set aside by the United Nations to celebrate persons with disabilities in the society.

This year's Gala Night will feature: awards, traditional dances, comedy and other arts of entertainment forms.
Special awards, will be given to disabled persons who have made their mark in society. It is scheduled as follows:
Date: December 3, 2016.
Venue: States House Banquet hall,Presidential Villa,Abuja.
Time 5:pm.

This event is strictly by Invitation.
