Otukpo Must Be Great Again Says George Alli As He Accepts Award As The Best Local Government Administrator In North Central Zone
The adage ‘hard work pays’ was on display on Sunday, the February the 25th when the Sole Administrator of Otukpo Local Government Council, Hon George Alli, was given the double award of the Best Local Government Administrator in Benue and in the whole of North Central Zone of Nigeria.
The event which was put together by the Papyrus Magazine was attended by Ambassador John Fashanu, Hon Pauline Tallen, (ex Minister and former Deputy Governor of Plateau State), Dr John (Benue State Independent Electoral Commission) and Mrs Aisha Abubakar, (former first Lady of Kogi State) and a host of other dignitaries. It was hosted by the notable comedian, Mr Enenche Enenche Comedian.
Presenting the award to Hon. George Alli, Hon Pauline Tallen, noted it is refreshing to find a local government in the frontline of developmental efforts, despite the structure of the Constitution depriving local government of autonomy and in spite of the recession. She thanked George Alli for thinking outside the box to find ways and means in putting Otukpo, once the shining light of Northern Nigeria into reckoning once again.
On his part, Ambassador John Fashanu noted he was very happy to associate with such an active and versatile local government administrator as Hon George Alli. He told all that he is ready to assist the honourable SOLAD in his search for investors to make the local government one of the hub of business in the North Central region of Nigeria. He told George Alli, not to rest on his laurels but continue to do the great work he is doing.
Dr John and Mrs Aisha Abubakar presented a deep freezer to George Alli as part of the awards.
Accepting the Award, the Hon SOLAD of Otukpo Local Government Council, George Alli pledge to continue to use all the faculties given him by God to turn the local government around. He told the audience that the government alone cannot do this and as a result, he needs investors in Agriculture, in Paintmaking ( Otukpo has the raw materials for making paints), Clay, Burnt bricks, Leatherworks, Fashion, and Transportation. His government, he said, is willing to partner with any investor who is interested in investing in Otukpo. He thanked the Papyrus Magazine for finding him and Otukpo worthy to be given this award and the Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom and his Deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu for finding him worthy for the position.. He promised never to fail his people. He ended his statement by saying ‘Otukpo must be great again’.
