President Buhari will respond to the rejection of Magu as EFCC chairman when he gets an official letter

The presidency has reacted to the Senate’s rejection of Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) saying this has to be officially communicated to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Magu was screened by the Senate on Wednesday, March 15 three months after his confirmation was first rejected but at the end of the second screening, his confirmation was refused again.

In addition, the Senate insisted that Magu had lost the power to continue in the capacity as acting chairman of the EFCC and thus President Buhari should re-nominate another person for the position.

Femi Adesina who is the special adviser to the president on media and publicity tweeted that President Buhari would duly respond to the rejection when the Senate sends him an official letter.
The rejection of Magu has raised suspicion that President Buhari has lost some of his powers with speculation that he was not in charge anymore.

The Presidency will respond to the non-clearance of Magu as EFCC boss, after it receives official communication in writing from the Senate.Femi said.
Meanwhile, Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) chided the Nigerian Senate for rejecting Magu for the second time.
According to Falana, the red chamber by its action, ridiculed the office of President Buhari.
But Falana advised President Buhari to restrain the DSS from sabotaging the fight against corruption.
He also stated that some senators under investigation by the commission ought not to have participated in the screening.
