Daily Trust gathered that the appointees are to serve as political field officers.
The letter conveying the appointments, which was made available to our correspondent, came from the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and stated that the appointees would be entitled to an annual basic salary of N198,300.
They would also have the services of two domestic servants each on grade level 3 step 8.
The letter of appointment also noted that the appointees are entitled to free accommodation, stressing that: “However, if you choose to stay in your personal house, you will be entitled to a rent at 20% of your annual basic salary.”
The Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Samuel Emmanuel Nanle, while giving further clarification on the appointments, noted that 10 persons were selected from each of the local government areas of the state, while cosmopolitan local governments have representations based on the various wards.
Nanle explained that the special assistants were political appointees at large, adding that they could be designated to different ministries on assignment.
