Police hijack 2017 budget during raid on Senator Goje's home
The Nigeria Police Force has hijacked the 2017 budget, according to Senator Danjuma Goje.
Goje, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation raised the alarm at Wednesday’s plenary.
The former Gombe governor said the incident occurred last week when the police raided his home.
He said laptops and documents that had the processed 2017 budget earlier scheduled to be laid on Tuesday were carted away.
He added that a laptop, N18million and $12,000 were also carted away from his residence.
The Police raided Goje’s Asokoro residence, acting on a tip-off by a whistle-blower.
The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the special adviser to the President on the Senate, Ita Enang have reportedly arrived the National Assembly to meet with the leadership of the Senate over the police raid of Goje’s residence, leading to the hijack of the 2017 budget.
According to Sumner Shagari Sambo, a Senior Correspondent, with Television Continental, Senate President Bukola Saraki has directed the IGP to meet Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu on the matter.
