Gov Al-Makura vows to deal with mischievous politicians

GOVERNOR Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has said that his administration would not hesitate to deal decisively with any politician or group that engages in acrimonious campaign that is capable of causing disaffection amongst the peace-loving people of the state.

The governor, who made the vow yesterday at an interactive session with stakeholders of the state to mark the 2017 Democracy Day celebration at the Government House, Lafia, warned that government would no longer sit and watch individuals or groups make unguarded utterances that could jeopardise government’s efforts in maintaining peace in the state. “Nobody should take our
government for granted.

Government will deal with mischief makers in whatever form they exhibit their tendencies. Politicians must play the game the rules,” and revealed that the state government has procured relief materials worth millions of naira to be distributed to victims of communal crisis in some parts of the state before the end of this week, adding that efforts were being made to ensure the resettlement of the crisis victims to their various abodes.

Al-Makura explained that the gathering was to appreciate, acknowledge and assure the stakeholders who contributed in one way or the other at various times in ensuring the success of his administration, promising to continue to involve them in government policies and programmes.

He said that his administration has been able to impact positively on the lives of the people of the state by enhancing public service, economic development, youth empowerment and education among other sectors. “Our government has also achieved a lot in the area of infrastructure development especially in health, electricity water supply and sanitation, and rural development all geared towards curtailing rural-urban migration,” he stressed.

The governor also revealed that his administration had also embarked on the construction of three specialised hospitals, one in each of the three senatorial zones of the state and restated his administration commitment to sustain his developmental strides for the benefit of the people of the state.
