PHOTOS: Bauchi Gov. Distributes 30,000 Mt Of Fertilizer To Farmers

Governor Mohammed A. Abubakar has yet again proved his administration’s commitment to the Agricultural sector. The Governor earlier today distributed 30,000 Mt of Fertilizer to farmers across the state at a special ceremony held in Kirfi Local Government.

Recall that in the first farming season of the administration, His Excellency Mohammed A Abubakar distributed 10,000 Mt, 15,000 Mt in the second farming season and now 30,000 Mt of Fertilizer in the 3rd farming season. This, no doubt, shows the government’s adherence to the Agricultural sector.
Speaking at the event, His Excellency Governor Mohammed A. Abubakar announced the price of both Urea and NPK Fertilizer at N5,500. The Governor also took his time to explain to the mammoth crowd that welcomed him, the extraordinary effort made by the government to secure this large quantity of fertilizer, revealing that the government had deposited a lot of money in that respect.

The Governor further revealed that 400 million Naira was expended in area of training farmers in order to encourage them make the best use of the anchor borrowers program. Also, water pumps, fertilizer and insecticides was distributed to all the farmers after the training.
Finally, Governor Mohammed Abubakar advised the farmers to make judicious use of the commodity and warned them to desist from diverting it.

In his remarks, Alh. Yakubu Kirfi the State Commissioner of Agriculture, commended the Governor for the support rendered to farmers in the state and the prompt payment of Agricultural counterpart funding. The Hon. Commissioner also commended Governor Mohammed Abubakar's approval of official visit to one of Morocco's finest university in a bid to collaborating with the university in training the staffs of the state ministry of Agriculture and also ensure successful take off of the Faculty of Agriculture at the Bauchi State University, Gadau and the state College of Agriculture, Bauchi.

The Chairman, Bauchi State Farmers Association, Barrister Haruna Yakubu, also commented Governor Abubakar for resuscitating the ailing Bauchi Fertilizer Company.
At the end of the ceremony the Governor was surprised by the locals as they honored him with special gifts of a beautiful copy of the Holy Qur'an, praying carpet (sajjada), a hoe and plough.
