Jose Mourinho: Man Utd Coach Accused Of €3.3m Tax Fraud In Spain

A Spanish prosecutor has on Tuesday filed a claim against football manager, Jose Mourinho over alleged €3.3m tax fraud. The claim lists two counts of alleged tax evasion – one in 2011 and another one in 2012 – when he managed Real Madrid.

The prosecutors said Mourinho failed to declare revenues from his image rights in his Spanish income tax declarations from 2011 and 2012, “with the aim of obtaining illicit profits’’.

They said he had already settled a previous claim relating to his Spanish taxes, which resulted in a penalty of 1.15 million euros in 2014.

But tax authorities later found that some of the information presented in that settlement was incorrect.

Known as “the Special One”, the 54-year-old Jose Mourinho is one of the most prominent and successful coaches.

In European competition, he has led Porto to UEFA Cup victory in 2003 and a Champions League triumph in 2004, and also won the Champions League with Inter Milan in 2010.

He has claimed a haul of domestic trophies with Chelsea and other clubs.

In the season just ended, he won three trophies in his debut campaign at Manchester United, although he drew criticism after a poor league performance.

This is barely a week after Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo was also accused of defrauding the Spanish tax authorities 14.7 million Euros.

Spain prosecutor’s office in Madrid already filed a tax fraud lawsuit against the Portuguese ace, who is scheduled to appear in court on July 31.

Meanwhile, the Real Madrid superstar has reportedly told his agent Jorge Mendes to seal a dream return to Manchester United.

According to an Italian newspaper, Gianluca Di Marzio, Ronaldo has asked Jorge Mendes to “do everything possible” to make the move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window happen
