Bello seeks approval for N11b supplementary budget
Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello
Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Monday proposed a supplementary budget of N11 billion for the 2017 fiscal year.
The governor said the supplementary budget became necessary in order to address certain areas of economic development that were not previously captured in the main budget.
Bello in a letter sent to the Kogi State House of Assembly to seek the approval of the lawmakers, said the supplementary budget would enable the administration to further embark on developmental projects and implementation of programmes.
It would be recalled that the governor had earlier in the year signed N174,851,544.523 billion appropriation bill into law after it was approved by the state assembly.
The supplementary budget now brings the total proposed expenditure of government in 2017 to N185.851b.
According to Bello, the supplementary budget would also be used to address security issues and other obvious sectors that are within and outside the current approved budget.
The speaker of the house, Ahmed Imam, after reading the letter on the floor of the assembly, directed the majority leader, Mathew Kolawole, to slate it on the order paper for consideration at the next legislative day.
