Africa sparks off culinary tourism with Jollof rice war
FOLLOWING the controversy of the origin of the best jollof in Africa, Nigeria and Ghana have quickly taken a lead to make culinary tourism, specifically Jollof rice a brand product.
This is coming as the organiser of the Akwaaba Africa Travel Market has set aside a day from the three day event for a cooking competition, tagged Jollof Rice War.
The jollof rice war at Akwaaba Africa Travel Market is scheduled to hold on September 10, 2017 at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, as the battle for jollof rice supremacy will be among best of chefs from Nigeria, Ghana and The Gambia.
The cooking competition which with be live at the venue will also avail the participants a free sampling of the jollof rice from the contesting countries.
In the spirit of the competition, Ghana, with the slogan ‘let’s settle it quickly’ will also be having its jollof festival at the University of Ghana Botanical garden, Legon, Accra on August 26, 2017, where chefs from Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal and The Gambia will take to the stage for the culinary war.
However, August is designated as Eat Ghana month with special emphasis on Ghanaian cuisine.
