POLICE, DSS TAKE OVER APC SECRETARIAT

Security operatives from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services have taken over the Bayelsa State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress following the suspension of the state chairman of the party, Tiwei Orunimighe, and two others.

The National Working Committee of the APC, had on Thursday evening, announced the suspension of Orunimighe; his deputy, Eddy Julius; and the secretary of the party’s chapter in the state, Marlin Danlin, over alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct.

At the party’s secretariat on Yenagoa-Mbiama Road on Friday, scores of riot policemen and DSS officials had been stationed there.

Some of the executives of the party loyal to a former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva, led by a factional chairman of the party in the state, Joseph Fafi, were at the secretariat.

The presence of Sylva’s loyalists attracted an angry outburst from an ex-militant leader and loyalist of the suspended chairman, Africanus Ukpariasa, also known as ‘General Africa’.
