Prince William Speaks Out on Kate Middleton’s Pregnancy
Yesterday, news pinged around the globe that Kate Middleton is pregnant with her third child. Kensington Palace announced the news after the Duchess of Cambridge was forced to cancel a previously planned appearance. As was true during her past two pregnancies, she is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness.
Today, Prince William made his first public appearance since the news broke, at a health conference in Oxford, England. And while he was there to meet and greet dignitaries, he also spoke out about his wife’s pregnancy.
After receiving congratulations, William said, “Thank you; it’s very good news.” He also noted that “there’s not much sleep going on at the moment.” That’s understandable, considering the nature of Kate’s pregnancy and the fact that their household is home to two young children.
On a more serious note, William also made a more direct reference to Kate’s current condition: “We need Catherine to get over this first bit and then we can start celebrating. It’s always a bit anxious to start with, but she’s well.” For the time being, the duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace.
