I was not elected to be sharing govt money – Gov Jibrilla

Muhammadu Jibrilla

The governor of Adamawa state Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla has said that he was not elected to be sharing government money just as he asked "where is even the money?"

The governor made this known on Thursday while speaking with All Progress Congress (APC) National Vice chairman for North-East, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, a delegation of the zonal executive council and other party's stakeholders who paid him a courtesy call in Yola.

Jibrilla said: "I was not elected to be sharing money. Where is even the money? I was elected to embark on projects that are of benefit to the people of the state and am doing it"

"But the people equally concluded that am working, and this has remained the surprise to me despite their criticism."

The governor urged the people of the state to set aside their political differences and join APC-led administration in the state.

Comrade Mustapha Salihu on his part cautioned governments at the state levels in the North-East to be extra careful in fielding candidates into elective position within the party as the 2019 general election draws nearer, saying that excellence performance should be the yardsticks in selecting representatives that would carry the party's flag in the next general election.

He said the state governor had performed creditably well that he has cut the glimpse of the party.

"If my blood brother is not doing fine in government I would not support him, but if a party faithful does creditably well he deserves every support.

"In areas of infrastructure, we have seen the best in Gov. Jibrilla and he deserves the support of the part in the region for better perform.

The National Vice Chairman noted that the party is not saying that state governor is perfect, but where he has garnered development he should be given a pat on the back.

He was quick to say the encomium does not translate into endorsement because 2019 is far ahead and more so that the ban on politics has not been left end.

"The commendation of the party to Governor Muhammed Jibrilla does not mean an endorsement for 2019. This is because 2019 is still far away, even as we are just in the mid term of the first tenure. So for us to be talking of 2019 now, it means we are trying to overheat the polity" the national vice chairman stated.

"When the time comes closer, the party and the people will make the choice of who carry the party's flag in the next election, and don't be mindful of the fact that there are other political parties. So, we have to be careful of talking about 2019 for now," Comrade Mustapha declared

He commended the federal government for taking into cognizance the teething problems of the North-East subregion even before the advent of Boko Haram insurgency.
