Papyrus Magazine honours Local Government employees





In what may be referred to as grassroot reformation drive, hundreds of civil servants from the auspices of Nigerian Union of Employees {NULGE} converged in Abuja on Saturday to be honoured with awards of Excellence at the maiden edition of PAPYRUS MAGAZINE AWARDS FOR THE NIGERIAN UNION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES {NULGE}

Convener of the Award and Publisher Papyrus Monthly Magazine Chief Mrs Doofan Abu-amali was full excitement at the success of the event where she stated that the drive for the NULGE EDITION of the PAPYRUS AWARD is to create visibility on the impact of the local government employees on the Nigerian Economy.
Mrs Abu-Amali was also hard on some state governors despite the presence of PAPYRUS MAGAZINE patron the ex-governor of yobe state Bukar Abbah Ibrahim where she accused some state governors of acting as demi gods because of the absence of local government autonomy.

Chairperson of the occasion and former Kogi State 1st Lady Haj. Aisha Auduenjoined the NULGE Awardees not to give up in the quest for local government autonomy as it still stand as the last resort to grassroot transformation.




For his part Honourable Sylvester Abu-Amali was full of gratitude to all those who supported his wife in bringing the PAPYRUS MAGAZINE NULGE AWARD a reality. He also narrated his experience as a Benue State Law maker where he stated that huge state monthly allocations arrives the state every month but a little insignificant fraction of the allocation is received by the local government.
He insisted that unless local governments are given autonomy, development will still be at a snail speed in the grassroot.

The PAPYRUS MAGAZINE NULGE AWARDis expected to motivate all local government employees to do more in their roles of nation building.
