SHAKIRA AND PIQUE SPLIT AFTER 6 YEARS?

The couple, who have been together for six years and have two sons together, have been hit by fresh claims they have split.


A source told Spanish site Cotilleo that 40-year-old Shakira had initiated the split, saying she could ‘no longer cope with the situation’ with her footballer husband, and may have ‘moved out’ of the house they share.

‘It’s something serious and she has been the one who has finally made the decision,’ the source said.

The pair, who are parents to two-year-old Sasha and four-year-old Milan, were last spotted together in June at the wedding of Gerard’s former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi and Antonella Roccuzzo, with Shakira posting a happy snap of the pair in all their finery to her Instagram.

This is not the first time the couple have had to defend themselves against split claims, after Gerard Pique poured cold water over rumours he and Shakira are on the verge of splitting by sharing a sweet family photo just weeks ago.


The image showed Shakira walking on a day out with their two sons Milan, four, and Sasha, two. He captioned the image, ‘#Sunday Family time!’, while also tagging the singer in the snap. 
Shakira recently spoke of the importance of family, revealing they put it first in all of their decisions.

‘We try to do the best we can. There’s a lot of love; that’s the foundation of any family. You have to take care of it and dedicate time. Family is the most important thing for me; the rest is secondary,’ she told HOLA! USA’s September issue.



All in all, it’s not been a great week for 30-year-old Gerard, who was booed during Spain training on Monday after voicing his support for Catelonia independence, as he practiced to chants of ‘Pique, arsehole, Spain is your country’ and ‘Pique, arsehole, leave the national team.’
